A quirky and most adorable little character, steeped with oodles of endearing history! And a rare little charm for the Kewpie lover or collector.

Isn't this the cutest comic character ever in history? Named the Kewpie doll, the doll was first invented by cartoonist Rose O'Neill around 1909 and quickly became an international hit.

The Kewpie was described by Rose O'Neill as "a sort of little round fairy whose one idea is to teach people to be merry and kind at the same time".

The Kewpie invention was also in perfect timing with WW1 looming. The name 'Kewpie' derives from Cupid, the Roman god of erotic love.

These little gold kewpies are becoming increasingly scarce, and this little fella is such a rare find!

The hollow Kewpie charm dates back to the late Edwardian era, Circa 1910's. It is made of 9 carat Gold.

This Kewpie features little angel wings, along with all the classic quirky attributes - side glancing eyes and the quaint little smile (don't you wonder what is he thinking?!), along with tiny ear, hand and feet profiles. As well, his little backside is beautifully detailed with plump bum cheeks.

So adorable!

The whole piece is elegant and IS in very good vintage condition with some signs of wear in keeping with age.
