The main character skull of this wonderful piece is set with ten Diamonds, he is flanked by six skulls each set with seven old mined hand cut Diamonds.
There are a total of fifty two vintage Diamonds, weighing 4.52 carats.
Dating from the mid 1800’s through the 1900’s, old mine hand cut Diamonds are most often found in Georgian and Victorian jewellery.
Primarily hand cut with the aid of early machines, they are a favorite stone for those who love stones with deeply individual character, as each stone is hand cut and uniquely beautiful.
The detail on this Skull necklace is, quite frankly, and in no uncertain terms, magnanimous.
Anatomically correct, the nasal cavities and the eye sockets are all perfectly set with Diamonds that adds a sense of movement to each skull!
To the reverse of the main skull is a portrait Diamond window and behind this is a Gold cross, a very special religious meaning.
The skulls are interlinked in place by a fancy bar link 15 carat Gold chain, secured by a lobster clasp.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage.
The Diamonds are all intact and securely set.
