Description

Beautiful vintage Opal single stone ring dating to the late Art Deco era. Pure beauty created by the earth and elevated by craftsmen.

A lively oval shaped Opal has a high domed cabochon cut and is secured by twelve prongs in a subtle way letting the gemstone be the main focus.

This stunning Opal is a kaleidoscope of vibrant colours which continually changes colours with the light.  The Opal continually displays a myriad of colours - green, yellow, reds, turquoise with a background warmth of orange.

We love the higher dome of the cabochon cut. Circa Art Deco to mid 20th century.

The very fine and tasteful mounting has been finely handcrafted in luxurious Platinum with trumpet detailing to the shoulders leading to a plain band shank.

The overall finish of the ring is wonderful. Everything is smooth to the touch.  

The shank is substantial, yet extremely comfortable to wear.

The name Opal is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning "precious stone," and later the Greek derivative "Opallios," meaning "to see a change of colour".

Opal has always been associated with love and passion, as well as desire and eroticism. It is a seductive stone that intensifies emotional states and releases inhibitions. It can also act as an emotional stabilizer.

Wearing an opal is said to bring about loyalty and faithfulness.

Opal is the birthstone for the month of October.

This opal is white in body colour with very good play of colour. As usual, Opals are incredibly difficult to photograph and the colours on the finger are the most accurate.

It looks beautiful when worn and is in excellent condition.
