Description
Solid silver vinaigrette with hinged lid and hinged inner grill, the vinaigrette has reeded decoration on all sides and a vacant central cartouche on the lid, the interior and grill are silver and has a beautiful hand pierced hinged inner grill.
Vinaigrettes are small containers for aromatic vinegar used to disguise unpleasant odours. The sponge for the vinegar was contained beneath a pierced grille.
Most were made between 1775 and 1900, mainly in Birmingham.
The hinges both work well and the lid closes firmly. The engine turning is in good condition and the interior is lovely.
In lovely condition considering it's age.
The hallmarks are clear.
