Description

A handsome and beautiful example of an Edwardian Georgian Memento Mori Skull and serpent ring, will certainly make you smile.

A fabulous Vintage skull and serpent ring! The skull is crafted in Silver, this bold and unusual piece, depicts a detailed skull set with three bright white sparkling Diamonds, which rests amidst two Diamond set serpents.

The Diamonds approximate is 0.50 carats.

An old mine cut Diamond evokes the past, when Diamonds were measured by eye and cut by hand.

Early diamond cutters (today known as bruters) shaped old mine cut diamonds by following the octahedral shape of the diamond crystal, laboriously grinding two diamonds together to achieve the desired shape, and a diamond polisher then polished the facets.

Due to the shape of the rough and because the diamonds were hand crafted, dimensions varied from stone to stone.

This made every old mine cut diamond unique, or put poetically, have its own personality.

The skull and serpents have a 3-dimensional look, complete with realistic skull with clear engraved teeth and nose features.

The image rests on a 22 carat yellow Gold band and is fairly wide and fits very comfortably on the wearer's finger.

The overall finish of the ring is wonderful. Everything is smooth to the touch.

The shank is substantial, yet extremely comfortable to wear.

The ring dates to Circa 1900s.

The ring is in excellent condition for a piece of antique jewellery of 100+ years old, with minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

This fun and unique ring has a very striking look, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!

Carpe diem is a Latin phrase that means “seize the day”. The skull acts as a reminder of death that also carries a vital message. As time is limited, you must make the most of it.

You must seize every day and live life to the fullest as life is short so enjoy it while it lasts.

Rings of this type are highly collectable and are sought after worldwide.
