This Antique Victorian 9 carat Gold lorgnette chain and slide weighs 30.8 grams and measures 56" long, if it could be opened.

During the Victorian era, fashionable ladies wore very long chains incorporated into their dress, often looped around and chained to a lorgnette or ladie's pocket watch.

This 9 carat yellow Gold chain was perhaps once used to suspend such a lorgnette or pocket watch and is accentuated with another common feature of Victorian dress, a slide.

This elegant chased sheild slide is radiantly centered with an enamelled swallow in flight over a pink rose, with beautiful detailing typical of the period.

Hand crafted in solid 9ct gold there are no hollow links and because of that it has stood the test of time and is in superb condition with no damage ie squashed links.

This original 1880's Victorian Guard Chain is a fine example of highly collectible antique jewellery.
