Description

A Victorian rare and unique Turquoise and Diamond plaque ring, Circa 1890.  Pure beauty created by the earth and elevated by craftsmen.

Boasting four mill grained set hand cut old mined hand cut sparkling Diamonds, weighing one carat.

Early diamond cutters (today known as bruters) shaped old mine cut Diamonds by following the octahedral shape of the diamond crystal, laboriously grinding two Diamonds together to achieve the desired shape, and a diamond polisher then polished the facets.

Due to the shape of the rough and because the Diamonds were hand crafted, dimensions varied from stone to stone.

This made every old mine cut diamond unique, or put poetically, have its own personality.

The old mined Diamonds are showcased within a halo of twenty four cabochon Turquoise.

These Victorian Turquoise are a to medium blue or greenish blue.

A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted.

The resulting form is usually a convex (rounded) obverse with a flat reverse.

Turquoise is perhaps the oldest stone in man’s history, the talisman of kings, shamans, and warriors.

It is a stone of protection, strong and opaque, yet soothing to the touch, healing to the eye, as if carved from an azure heaven and slipped to earth.

Its unique shade of blue, often blue-green, lends it name, Turquoise, to all things of this tranquil hue.

Finely handcrafted in 18 carat yellow Gold.

The ring is in excellent condition for a piece of antique jewellery of 100+ years old, with minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

The overall finish of the ring is wonderful. Everything is smooth to the touch.

The shank is substantial, yet extremely comfortable to wear.

A truly breathtaking design to wear with love and passion.

Art Nouveau (1890 – 1910)

While Edwardian Era jewellery is full of detail, symmetrical, and delicate, Art Nouveau jewelry is a celebration of free form.

Art Nouveau style contains an organic structure with no symmetry. Genuine Art Nouveau jewellery from the early 1900's is very difficult to find.

A glamorous Victorian ring that will bring a touch of class to any look.

Looks fabulous when worn, a real talking piece, steeped in English history.
