A stunning Victorian pair of tortoiseshell drop pique earrings.

Circa: 1839-1901

The tortoiseshell was heated and Gold and Silver designs were pressed into it.

This method is no longer used.

Piqu� jewellery cannot be reproduced today and is so unique and spectacular.

Made most popular during the Victorian era, it can be found as far back as the 18th Century.

Piqu� (pronounced �pee-kay�) is Gold or Silver and in this case a combination of both, inlay-ed into tortoiseshell.

Quite often the material was tortoiseshell and sometimes even from elephant ivory.

These rare earrings give you the best of both worlds when it comes to practicality and sheer beauty.

Highly collectable and are sought after worldwide.
