Description

A stunning antique Edwardian Burmese Ruby and old cut sparkling Diamond yellow Gold pendant and chain forms part of our diverse antique jewellery collections.

This stunning, fine and impressive Edwardian pendant has been finely handcrafted in 18 carat yellow Gold.

The quatrefoil design is ornamented with a feature round Burmese Ruby and is surrounded by 4 collet set transitional cut sparkling Diamonds.

The quatrefoil design articulates from a circular collet set Diamond and articulated below is a fabulous teardrop Burmese Ruby.

These sparkling Diamonds are old transitional cut stones and weigh half a carat.

These fabulous Burmese Rubies are of the best quality and are deep pigeon blood colour.

The Rubies weigh an approximate weight of 1.75 carats.

The design is in keeping with the Arts and Crafts and dates Circa 1900's.

The pendant comes with a fine 18 carat 18 inch Gold chain.

Rubies mined in Burma have long been held as the absolute ideal in terms of colour for a Ruby, they are an exceptionally beautiful rich deep red with neither too much brown nor pink in it.

The term ‘pigeon’s blood’ has historically been used in an attempt to define this colour that is found in the best examples produced by this region.

When rubbed on the skin, Rubies were thought to restore youth and vitality.

For thousands of years, Ruby was considered the stone of love, energy, passion, power, and a zest for life.

Like no other gemstone in the world, Ruby is the perfect symbol for powerful feelings.

Condition - in excellent vintage condition in keeping with age.
