Description

A fabulous antique late Victorian early Edwardian era gents Intaglio ring has historic character to spare!

Featuring a rub over set oval hand carved Carnelian stone depicting a young Roman centurion. The detail of which is superb.

Finely crafted in luxurious 18 carat Gold with grooved detailing to the shoulders.

The overall finish of the ring is wonderful. Everything is smooth to the touch.

The shank is substantial, yet extremely comfortable to wear.

Complete with a full and clear Chester Hallmark.

During the latter part of the 19th century, it was very common to set antique carved intaglios into simple rings in the ancient style.

These rings were very popular for their understated elegance, and historical reference.

They remain popular today for the same reasons, but have become difficult to find.

Known as a stone of motivation and endurance, leadership and courage, Carnelians have protected and inspired throughout history.

A glassy, translucent stone, Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family.

The ancient Egyptians called Carnelian "the setting sun."
