Description

A beautiful and alluring Ruby and Diamond Edwardian double snake ring is sure to steal the spotlight.

The ring has two entwined snakes each mounted with, 8 graduated old-cut sparkling Diamonds with a combined weight of one carat set in a band to the heads and the eyes are set with deep blood red Rubies.

Each Diamond continuously dances and sparkles allowing an incredible colour display!

Dating from the mid 1800's through the 1900's, old mine hand cut Diamonds are most often found in Georgian and Victorian jewellery.

Primarily hand cut with the aid of early machines, they are a favorite stone for those who love stones with deeply individual character, as each stone is hand cut and uniquely beautiful.

An old mine cut diamond evokes the past, when Diamonds were measured by eye and cut by hand.

The overall finish of the ring is wonderful. Everything is smooth to the touch.

The ring sits low and gently curves over the finger.

Finely handcrafted in 18 carat Gold.

The ouroboros, a circular depiction of a snake swallowingits own tail, is an emblem of wholeness or infinity.

The ring is in excellent condition for a piece of antique jewellery of 100+ years old, with minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use.

Snake rings became popular after Queen Victoria was presented with a continuous snake ring as her engagement ring from Price Albert. Her ring, which signified everlasting love for eternity, had an emerald, her birthstone, centered in its head. This set a trend throughout England to wear a snake as a symbol of love worn by both women and men.

Rings of this type are highly collectable and are sought after worldwide.

Looks fabulous when worn, a real talking piece.
