Layers of sentiment can be found in this wonderfully sweet Victorian ring, Circa 1880.

The face of the ring features two forget me nots rendered in ten round cabochon Turquoise with a Gold bead centre flanking a complex love knot with a pendant heart also set with a cabochon Turquoise.  The forget-me-not is associated with enduring memory and fidelity.

The shoulders have groove detailing leading to a plain band.

Finely handcrafted in 18ct Gold.

Excellent; very light wear consistent with age and use. There are no major marks or scratches that we feel necessary to mention. All of our jewellery is professionally cleaned prior to us shipping it.
The forget-me-not is used a lot as a symbol in mourning jewellery of the 19th century.

The mourning jewellery of the Victorian era had softened to act as tokens of remembrance for the deceased. Motifs were symbols of grief: willows, angels, clouds, initials, to name a few. The mourning dress code was extremely strict during this period, particularly for women.
