Description

An early Victorian 9 carat Gold back and front and enamel locket containing an original black and white photo of a very distinguished much loved Victorian gentleman displayed behind a glass fitting.

The oval locket is beautifully hand engraved with forget-me-not floral detailing and a distinctive blue enamel crest to the front which represents the colour of the forget-me-not flower.

Back and front lockets are made from 9 carat Gold on the front and back with some metal parts. The front and back are entirely Gold, but edge and the hinge are gold plated metal. This was a very popular way of constructing lockets, Gold is quite soft and easily bent, so the metal frame offers a bit more stability.

The locket signifies a special bond that is shared between two people, and with a photo inside, it becomes a tangible representation of precious memories. The act of opening the locket and revealing the photo is a personal and emotional experience that is cherished by the wearer.

Condition and Wear:

Excellent; Very light wear consistent with age and use. There are no major marks or scratches that we feel necessary to mention.
